Manager:
Kiwanis Enterprise Centre
The
E-Growth Community Project has been a wonderful learning experience
for many people. We have enjoyed the various workshops,
community events and one-on-one training as we have explored
computer technology and business start-up training. I
contribute the tremendous success of this project to the great
team of people who worked together to help one another to learn
and grow in a fun and interactive environment. The support
that we received from Project Officers at the Office of Learning
Technologies has helped us to develop and grow a highly successful
and interesting project that has been a benefit to both staff
and clients at the Enterprise Centre. |

E-Growth!
What an excellent opportunity for learning computer and business
start up skills. The ability to offer training at no cost and
the flexibility of the project enabled participants fron all
areas of our community to participate in learning. Starting
new businesses, learning new or upgrading ICT skills and the
inspiration to continue lifelong learning has benefited participants,
thus our community. The teamwork and support of the staff and
all involved i.e. (partners, participants, facilitators, funders)
were the contributing factors to our success. The E-Growth Community
Project has been an awesome experience! |

The E-Growth
Community Project has been an opportunity for learning and doing.
The people I have worked with, both participants and staff,
have enriched my life. I have seen examples of brilliance, determination,
excellence, enthusiasm, excitement, gratitude, support and kindness.
The project has required development of the reluctant computer
nerd that lay dormant inside of me. I learned skills in the
same way our participants did, by experimenting, by asking,
by watching, by participating in workshops and by taking online
courses. The thing that helped me the most was sharing what
I had learned with others and watching them light up as they
developed desired skills. I have also discovered that learning
technology provides unlimited opportunities; there will always
be more for me to discover. |

Tech
Support

"Tech
support was a very interesting and challenging position. From
updating websites and facilitating workshops to, literally,
holding participants' hands as they discovered how to move the
computer mouse, there was endless variety.
But
what I will remember most are the smiles and the almost visible
surge in self confidence people experienced when they realized
they didn't have to be afraid of technology; they were in control." |

"I
have had a long history of engagement with the Kiwanis Enterprise
Centre and was contracted to provide external evaluation of
the project in May 2006. It was quickly apparent that
the project was providing value to participants and that staff
were flexible in their approach to project delivery - always
with a focus on improved participant outcomes."
