The
E-Growth Community Project was a three year pilot project funded by
the Government of Canada, Office
of Learning Technologies and administered by the Kiwanis Enterprise
Centre. As Industry Canada's Regional Computer Access Program Coordinator
for the Peace Region, this project successfully utilized the KEC's
CAP site. The project ran from January 2005 to December 2007. The

To provide an entrepreneurial work
experience focused on inclusion and job creation and to reduce barriers
to employment and improve access to learning to approximately 40
disadvantaged learners (aboriginals, persons with disabilities,
unemployed persons, women, and persons with low levels of literacy).
- To increase public awareness and
use of learning technology and increase working relationships between
project partners, service providers and participants
- To provide a favourable environment
for the development of ICT businesses.
- To facilitate the development of
a sustainable ICT and new media cluster in the Peace Region.
- To create a model for other regions
or communities endeavoring to promote ICT.
Meeting
these goals was a challenging and rewarding experience; lessons were
learned and a great many resources were collected. This website will
guide you through our journey in the hopes that it may assist you
on yours.
Although
chiefly aimed towards organizations interested in running a similar
project or set of services in their community, much of the information
on this website can be used by individuals as well. Our participants’
stories (on the People page) are an inspiration to anyone working
to increase their understanding of ICT (Information & Computer
Technology) and the Resources & Links page contains links to a
wide variety of useful tools including Entrepreneurship and business
start-up information.
